One could argue that legalization measures do more to promote marijuana consumption than protecting vulnerable populations. States who are considering legalization in hopes to decriminalize marijuana and advance restorative justice should pay attention to the evolving science in hopes to not compromise the health and safety of the most vulnerable-our youth. Data collected from, 2015-2018 shows nearly 11 percent of children ages 12 to 17 met the criteria for addiction just a year after first trying marijuana (Source: NIDA).
